Please join the Centre Against Sexual Violence Inc, in Partnership with Murrigunyah Family and Cultural Healing Centre, at our CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY To acknowledge the strength and courage that it has taken people all over the world to survive Sexual Violence.
The Exhibition asks participants to understand that it was never about the clothing, that it is a myth that women are raped due to what they were wearing. The violation is not simply woven in to the fabric of the material, it is a part of the survivor’s new narrative. If only ending sexual violence was as easy as changing our clothes.
Instead it requires all of us to evaluate what enabled us as individuals and as a
society to ask, “What were you wearing?” in the first place.
Please utilise self-care as needed and contact Centre Against Sexual Violence for support and information.
Please RSVP by Friday 5th October 2018, for catering purposes.
